About the Role
Zessio is a therapist-built, mission-driven platform designed to help clinicians connect, collaborate, and extend care beyond the therapy room through community, education, and shared resources. We are a growing, founder-led business building a values-aligned ecosystem that supports both therapist sustainability and broader community impact.
We’re seeking a Contract WordPress Technical Lead to serve as our hands-on WordPress engineer, administrator, and troubleshooting expert. This is a part-time, execution-oriented contract role working closely with the founders. You’ll take direct responsibility for diagnosing and resolving technical issues, maintaining site health, and executing small but meaningful updates within an evolving WordPress ecosystem.
What You’ll Own
-
Directly troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve WordPress bugs, plugin conflicts, caching issues, and system errors in a live environment.
-
Perform hands-on updates inside WordPress (plugin configuration, performance tuning, minor theme or content adjustments).
-
Act as the primary technical translator, clearly explaining issues, risks, and solutions to non-technical founders.
-
Manage and maintain a multi-plugin WordPress environment, ensuring stability, compatibility, and security.
-
Provide light on-call support for urgent system issues or errors as they arise (infrequent, but important).
What We’re Looking For
-
Strong, practical WordPress experience, you’re comfortable living in WP-Admin, hosting dashboards, and plugin settings.
-
Proven ability to debug and problem-solve, not just advise.
-
Clear communicator who can translate technical findings into plain language.
-
Comfortable working with a small, developing business where priorities evolve and ownership matters.
-
Reliable, communicative, proactive, and detail-oriented.
Ideal Qualifications
-
2+ years of hands-on WordPress experience in production environments
-
Familiarity with caching layers, performance optimization, and common WordPress troubleshooting patterns
-
Experience working with complex plugin ecosystems (e.g., membership, ecommerce, LMS, community plugins)
Hours & Commitment
-
Estimated 2–3 hours per week, with flexibility
-
Occasional on-call availability for urgent technical issues
-
Fully remote; asynchronous collaboration with founders
Compensation
-
Market hourly range: $50–$90/hour (USD)
Final rate dependent on experience, technical depth, and demonstrated troubleshooting ability
