About Zessio
Zessio is a therapist-built platform and community designed to support mental health professionals in creating, sharing, and sustaining meaningful resources beyond traditional 1:1 work. Our work is grounded in the belief that when therapists are supported, communities are healthier.
We are deeply committed to inclusivity, accessibility, and affirming care across identities, backgrounds, and lived experiences. Zessio is built by therapists, for therapists, and we approach growth with intention and care.
The Role
We are seeking a founder-level, part-time Contract Technical Project Manager to serve as a strategic and supportive partner as we transition our platform toward a more streamlined, in-house, maintenance-oriented model.
This is a contract advisory role with light on-call support, not a full-time position, and not a feature-development role in the immediate, with potential for feature development as we grow. The focus is on clarity, stewardship, and continuity to help us make grounded technical decisions, navigate issues as they arise, and prepare the platform for sustainable future growth.
This role is well-suited for someone who enjoys a low-hour, high-trust engagement and wants to apply their technical fluency in service of a mission-driven mental health platform.
What You’ll Do
In collaboration with the founders and select consultants, you will:
-
Provide strategic technical guidance during the transition from external development to in-house maintenance
-
Help document and clarify existing platform architecture, workflows, and dependencies
-
Support prioritization and decision-making with an emphasis on simplicity, sustainability, and long-term clarity
-
Act as a technical thought partner and translator between founders and developers or contractors
-
Evaluate tools, plugins, and integrations to ensure they remain aligned with actual platform needs
-
Serve as an on-call technical point of contact for navigating bugs or platform issues, including:
-
Helping diagnose the nature and scope of issues
-
Advising on urgency and impact
-
Coordinating fixes with developers or vendors when needed
-
Offering calm, informed guidance during unexpected issues
-
This support is designed to be thoughtful and sustainable, rather than constant or reactive.
What You Won’t Be Doing
-
Writing production code or building new features
-
Providing 24/7 technical support or crisis response
-
Replacing a full development or support team
The role centers on triage, interpretation, and leadership, not execution volume.
Technical Fluency We’re Looking For
You don’t need to be an engineer, but you should be comfortable navigating, discussing, and troubleshooting within:
-
WordPress ecosystems
-
Elementor
-
BuddyBoss
-
ActiveCampaign
- LMS
-
Plugin-based architectures and integrations
You should feel confident assessing issues, asking the right questions, and guiding next steps.
Who This Role Is a Good Fit For
This role may be a strong fit if you:
-
Enjoy working closely with founders in a strategic, advisory capacity
-
Are comfortable providing calm, on-call guidance when things break (without needing to fix everything yourself)
-
Prefer contract-based, flexible work over full-time roles
-
Are aligned with mental health affirming, inclusive, and accessible values
-
Like helping systems become steadier, clearer, and more resilient
-
Appreciate work that evolves organically and grows with the platform
Time & Rhythm
-
Contract engagement, typically no more than ~10 hours per month
-
Flexible scheduling; asynchronous-friendly
-
Occasional short-term increases during transitions or active bugs
-
Clear expectations around response windows and scope
Why This Role Exists
We are intentionally shifting toward a model that prioritizes clarity, maintainability, and thoughtful growth, while also ensuring we have experienced technical leadership available when issues arise. This role helps us stay grounded, responsive, and values-aligned without overbuilding or burning out.
